Inspiration

Picture
Pastor John Hicks from First United Method Church in Clewiston, Florida, was the catalyst that got this mission started. I was sitting in church listening to his sermon about the Children of God, People of Worth (COGPOW), and I was reminded of the children and people of Haiti--how I always told myself when I get the time or have the money I will do something to help, but that day I knew it was time.  God spoke to me and I was determined to make a difference, to give back to the country I had left many years ago, to go back to my roots and provide for as many as I could the opportunity to live in decent housing, have warm food on their tables and in their bellies, and be educated.

History

Our journey began in 2013. From the humble beginnings of  a single classroom with 20 students, COGPOW Community Outreach has more then tripled in size to 4 classrooms and 84 students.  Our vision is to continue our journey, and our growth, to have approximately 100 students across 5 grade levels by Fall 2019.
